RTO Pune
Pune is home to Maharashtra’s major IT offices and is known for its fast-expanding residential areas. As the city continues to grow, there has been a rise in commercial and private vehicles, including two and three-wheelers. Many of Pune’s major roads witness heavy traffic throughout the day, leading to the construction of a Pune Bypass from Katraj to Dehu Road. To support the growing population and vehicular movement, multiple RTO offices have opened up in the city.
The Pune Regional Transport Office manages all major transport and driving services in the city. It issues new registrations, renewals, issues learner’s permits and permanent licenses, along with payment of road taxes. The Pune RTOs also provide essential services to commercial vehicles and issue fitness and PUC certificates.
To make the RTO services more accessible, Pune residents can use Pune RTO’s online services from the Parivahaan website or visit their nearest RTO office for in-person assistance. With multiple regional offices in the city, completing legal vehicle-related formalities and complying with road safety will be easy for Pune residents.

Need for Motor Insurance
RTOs in Pune have mandated motor insurance for all vehicles under the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. As insurance is a legal requirement, driving without one can lead to heavy fines and imprisonment as well if you are stopped for checks. In a busy city like Pune, the RTOs take motor insurance seriously. They enforce it to ensure the roads are safe and drivers are being responsible.
With heavy traffic, accidents are unfortunately common in Pune. Suppose you are stuck in traffic in Hinjewadi, and a car hits you from behind, breaking your taillight. The repair cost for this damage could be high, but with car insurance, you end up paying around ₹2,500*. Your policy will compensate your repair costs if you visit a network garage, making the process smooth and stress-free.
This is where IndusInd General Insurance (Reliance General Insurance) steps in. Monsoons in Pune witness heavy rains and waterlogged roads, which can damage a car’s electrical components. With IndusInd’s insurance starting at ₹308/month*, you can customise your policy with 13+ add-ons* to protect your car’s expensive parts. With a wide network of garages, getting support in and around Pune becomes easy when you need it the most.
IndusInd General Insurance (formerly Reliance General Insurance) offers customisable insurance plans for your car. Pay affordable rates according to your driving habits and distance with the Pay As You Drive rider. We offer 24/7 assistance to you wherever you are in India, which can be accessed via the IndusInd Insurance App.
